Food Pantry

St. Elizabeth Food Pantry is an outreach center under the Social Concerns Ministry of our Parish. We are glad to serve 250-300 individuals on a weekly basis.

We are a recognized Food Pantry partner of USDA and FIND Food Bank. We also get support from Organizations and agencies and individual donors espcially from our parishioners.

If you would like to donate food or money for the Food pantry, please call the parish office at 760-329-8794.

For anyone not familiar with our organization, we have been providing groceries, clothing and referral assistance to those in need for about 40 years. Beginning with a few parishioners collecting clothing, furniture and food for the needy, the project moved into the sacristy of the old church which is located at the corner of Pierson Blvd. and Ocotillo St., and was simply the Food Bank giving out food and clothing. John and Trudy Brooks were members of Catholic Charities Advisory Board also warehoused furniture in their garage. As furniture was donated and there was not an immediate use for it, it was given to Nightingale Manor which is located in Palm Springs. Nightingale Manor was established by a previous pastor of our church, Msgr. Nightingale, as a temporary residence for homeless families. This was done in conjunction with Catholic Charities who paid for the staff to manage the 12-unit motel-turned-shelter. Catholic Charities turned the operation over to the Salvation Army two years ago due to financial problems and their inability to properly serve the people.
